Featured Work
For the 2008 spring production Gene made flocks of bowls and plates with simple forms and colors for every day use.
Lucy could not resist ornamenting some of the Nordic flat sided bowls with a stylized leaf design as shown on this set of stacking bowls., 4"-7" in diameter.

2008 Spring Open House
Sesquicentennial Commissions
The State of Minnesota celebrates its Sesquicentennial this May. Local artists were commissioned by counties to prepare work on selected historic subjects. This work will be on exhibit in St. Paul at the State Capitol on May 17-18.
Gene Tokheim and Franz Allbert Richter collaborated on a Pickle Crock for Swift County that commemorates the part that railroads played in settling western Minnesota.
Lucy Tokheim did an oil painting titled "The Mission at Lac Qui Parle", portraying Joseph Renville, Thomas Williamson and a Dakota student translating the Bible into the Dakota language.
Prints of this painting are available for sale, stretched canvas in three sizes, and accompanied by historical narrative. Contact us for more information.
Knife Classes
Gene Tokheim will teach Traditional Norwegian Knife Making classes at:

The All From One Tree exhibit is visiting Tokheim Stoneware. This exhibition of fine crafts created from a single birch tree is from the North House Folk School in Grand Marais, Minnesota.
"All From One Tree" draws attention to the source material of many northern craftspeople - the birch tree. This dynamic project underscores North House Folk School's process of craft as an effort to celebrate 10-years of programming traditional northern craft.
The exhibit features knives by Ben, Gene, and Luke Tokheim.

The North House Folk School in Grand Marais, Minnesota is hosting an exhibition of fine crafts created from a single birch tree.
"All From One Tree" draws attention to the source material of many northern craftspeople - the birch tree. This dynamic project underscores North House Folk School's process of craft as an effort to celebrate 10-years of programming traditional northern craft.
Gene, Luke, and Ben Tokheim all made knives using material from the birch tree and will be participating in the show.
